Airfield

Rangiora Airfield (NZRT) is located on Merton Road, approximately 5.5 kilometres west-northwest of Rangiora. It has three grass runways and is owned and operated by Waimakariri District Council, with assistance from the Rangiora Airfield Advisory Group.

Fuel

Jet A1 and Avgas 100 are available with Swipecard.

Casual Users

Landing charges are $12.00 per day.

Runway Lighting

None of the runways have lighting.

Airfield Health and Safety

The policies and procedures required for the safe and effective management of the Aerodrome is outlined in the Rangiora Airfield Safety Manual.

Runway Safety

Runway safety is everyone's responsibility. We ask all users to help us to minimise runway incursions by keeping pedestrians away from the operational areas, particularly the runways, and to keep dogs on leads at all times.

Fly Neighbourly

Rangiora Airfield users are encouraged to operate safely and considerately to help minimise noise and other impacts on neighbouring properties and animals.

This Memorandum of Understanding provides guidance for airfield users on reducing the effects of aircraft operations while maintaining safe flying practices.


Hangars at Rangiora Airfield

Currently there are approximately 90 hangars at the airfield. All hangars are privately owned and built on land leased from the Council.

Not all hangars are suitable for helicopters - please check with the Council by emailing office@wmk.govt.nz


Remotely Controlled Aircraft (Drones)

Remote controlled aircraft to be flown within 11 of our District's larger parks, subject to conditions. Remote controlled aircraft however are not allowed to be flown at the Rangiora Airfield. Remotely Piloted Aircraft System (RPAS) Operations Agreement Form – Rangiora Area.
