Requesting Property File Information

Every property in the Waimakariri District has a file held at the Council, with varying amounts of information in digital form.

If you wish to view a property file, either call into a Service Centre near you, or complete the Release of Information Form and email to IM@wmk.govt.nz.

There is no charge to access Drainage Plans or to view your own property file in person at a Service Centre.
For the provision of electronic information via email, electronic file share (a secure email link with 10 working day access to Sharefile) or USB, there will be a charge as outlined in the Release of Information Form and as shown below.
Once your property file request payment has been received, it may take up to 7 working days to receive your information.

These requests are separated into Residential and Commercial property records (this also includes schools, retirement homes and large farms) and (if available) you will receive Building Consents, permits, floor plans and/or building specifications.

Buying a Property

If you are considering purchasing a property, we recommend you get a LIM (Land Information Memorandum). This will give you extra information that isn't included in the property file that may affect the property you are looking at, such as resource consents granted for neighbouring properties.

Settled.govt.nz has useful information before you buy a property.
