Over the coming weeks, a range of works will be getting underway across the Waimakariri District.
This includes road works, water and wastewater upgrades, and community facility projects in Rangiora, Kaiapoi, Fernside, Oxford and surrounding areas.

| Pavement Rehabilitation - Oxford Road, Cust | Placing a new layer of high-quality gravel over the existing road surface, followed by grading and compaction to restore the road’s shape and strength. Oxford Road will be closed to undertake this work during the hours of 6am and 6pm. A detour will be in place through Poyntzs Road and Tram Road. | 16 February 2026 |
State Highway 1 Waikuku, near the intersection with Tulls Road | Due to resurfacing works, there will be Stop/Go traffic management with a 30km/h speed restriction in place on 16 February between 6pm and 6am. There is an overnight closure of State Highway 1 at the Waikuku Bridge (over the Ashley River), between the 9pm and 5am on 18 February. Detour will be via Sefton | 16 February 2026 |
