The water main crossing the Eyre River will be replaced shortly.
The existing water main was installed in the 1980’s and is in poor condition. This work will continue the replacement of the water main on Island Road/ McGraths Road, which was completed in May 2025.
The work will include
Installing a new water main across the Eyre River on McGraths Road, and extending this either side of the river channel in the road or berm, where possible.
Timing of work
The works are scheduled to commence in February 2026, and are expected to take four to five weeks to complete.
This work is to be undertaken in dry weather, due to the river crossing, therefore delays are possible.
How the work may affect you
Access to properties will be maintained at all times.
Water services will temporarily be suspended during the connection of the new water main to the existing network. Further notification will be provided 48 hours prior to service suspension.
Traffic impacts
McGraths Road will likely be closed for the majority of the work with detours in place to accomodate traffic.

All work will be undertaken between 7.30am and 5pm.
