Kaiapoi Menz Shed are moving to their long term home at the Hub.
As part of the Kaiapoi Community Hub Development, Kaiapoi Menz Shed are now making the move to their home at the Hub. Consultation on the master plan took place in late 2021. The Hub concept was established to provide land to not-for-profit organisations looking to build facilities that enable them to operate and conduct their activities.
The work will include
Relocation and site preparation
- Temporary relocate four existing containers to the site and store them within a securely fenced area during foundation construction.
- Relocate the building currently on footings to the site and store it within a securely fenced area during foundation construction.
Construction activities
- Construct foundations for the building and containers.
- Complete electrical installations and associated services.
Exterior works
- Finish the exterior of the four containers and the building in accordance with the relevant design guidelines, as outlined in the indicative profile drawing below.
- The containers will function as isolated welding and painting workshops, storage areas, and include a private outdoor workspace.
Timing of work
The existing containers and builders are due to be relocated to the Hub site in mid-January 2026. Work is not expected to start on the foundations until consents are granted by the end of April. Following foundation construction, the buildings will be moved to their new permanent locations on site and work will begin on the exterior of these buildings.

All these works will be completed inside the Hub development itself and will not require any works to be undertaken on the road.
