Due to unforeseen circumstances, work on the section of Tram Road between Oxford Road and Poyntz Road will now extend through to the 15 May.

1 May 2024

As part of the Council's road and drainage maintenance programme, our contractor CORDE will be carrying out high shoulder removal along Tram Road, between Oxford Road and Two Chain Road from 7am to 6pm from Monday 6 May to Friday 10 May.

High shoulder is soil and grass build up on the edge of the road, which stops the water getting off the pavement into swale. Water sitting on the pavement can cause pavement deterioration so it's important to remove this. This work involves removing the soil and grass build-up adjacent to the road, to allow water to drain from the road surface.

Due to the work blocking both traffic lanes, the work will be done in three sections using specialist machinery with a conveyor, which removes the high shoulder and drops it into a truck.

  • Oxford Road to Poyntzs Road
  • Poyntzs Road to Earlys Road
  • Earlys Road to Two Chain Road

The work will be undertaken over the course of the week with detours in place to either Oxford Road or North Eyre Road. On site signage will clearly direct traffic.

The contractors traffic management staff will be monitoring the intersections between these roads and will adjust the signs to maintain access to as much of Tram Road as possible as the operation moves along the road.

When exiting properties onto Tram Road, please look out for the work vehicles, and either travel in the opposite direction or be prepared to stop on the grass berm to allow them past. If you require access to your property while your section of road is closed, please stop, and talk to our staff on site and follow any instructions given, which may include approaching from another direction.

There may be some dust and noise created during the works. This is normal during this type of work, and we will endeavour to keep any inconvenience to a minimum. We thank you in advance for your understanding. If you require more information, please contact us, or talk to our foreman on site.
