As part of the Waimakariri District Council Maintenance Contract, Corde will be undertaking road safety improvement works on Charles Upham Drive, Rangiora.
The work will include
Construction of a new pedestrian refuge island and minor line marking changes, including the installation of “no stopping” lines adjacent to the new pedestrian refuge.
Timing of work
The work will start on Thursday 21 May 2026 and is expected to take two days to complete, this allows for concrete curing before the road opening. The duration outlined is weather permitting
Traffic impacts
A road closure will be in place from Oxford Road to Chatsworth Avenue. A signed detour will be in place down Elm Drive and Oakwood Drive. However, the entrances to Stables Montessori Preschool – The Oaks and Acorns Cafe can still be accessed throughout the duration of the work.
On street parking in the closure area won’t be available during the duration of the work. As shown in the map, the closure point is as outlined, to predominantly include installation of the pedestrian island.
General impacts
Hours
The road closure work will be completed between the hours of 7am and 6pm. The minor line marking work will be completed at night, with minimal impact to traffic, as the work is short duration.
Weather
In the event of bad weather or unforeseen circumstances, the work may be delayed.
Kerbside collections
Your kerbside collections will remain unchanged. Please ensure your bag or bins are in their usual spot on collection day.

Road work is a noisy, dirty business — but please bear with us. We will be doing all we can to minimise the impact on your home/business. Your cooperation and patience will help us get the job done as quickly as possible. All work will be carried out between the stated hours and over week days only to help minimise the impact on the community.
