Mafeking Footbridge has had multiple layers of non-slip matting added over the years to repair patches and maintain the surface. These multiple layers will be removed and replaced with a new single layer of high-quality surface matting.
Mafeking Footbridge has had multiple layers of non-slip matting added over the years to repair patches and maintain the surface. These multiple layers will be removed and replaced with a new single layer of high-quality surface matting.
The work will include
- Removing the old layers of non-slip mesh matting.
- Installing a new single layer of high-quality surface matting.
Timing of work
The work, which will start Wednesday 6 May (with Thursday as a backup if required), are planned to be completed over two days.
How the work may affect you
Mafeking Footbridge will be closed from 9.30am until 2.30pm while the new matting is installed. Walkers and cyclists will have to use the alternative bridge, which is Mandeville Footbridge located at Trousselot Park 800m east towards Kaiapoi Town.
