Community Preparedness Exercise on 6 June

On Saturday 6 June, Red Cross volunteers will be undertaking an emergency preparedness exercise in the communities of Waikuku, Kairaki, Pines, and Woodend Beach.

Between 8.30am and 4.30pm, New Zealand Red Cross Disaster Welfare and Support Team volunteers may visit some homes as part of their planned outreach training activity, sharing practical emergency preparedness information and speaking with community members about simple ways households can be better prepared for emergencies.

What to expect:

  • Red Cross volunteers and vehicles in the areas of Waikuku, Kairaki, Pines and Woodend Beach.
  • Volunteers wearing Red Cross uniforms and identification.
  • Optional conversations about emergency preparedness with some information you can take away.

Note: Volunteers will not be asking for donations, sign-ups, or collecting any personal information. Volunteers will not enter homes at any stage during the exercise.
