A Pump Track for Pearson Park?

We want to know what you think about a proposal to install a community funded pump track at Pearson Park in Oxford.

Oxford could be getting it's own playground for wheels, if the community agrees.

A pump track is a looping circuit of smooth mounds and banked corners that create a feeling of flow and momentum as you ride.

The Oxford pump track will be suitable for bikes, scooters, skateboards, and even adaptive equipment, making it accessible for everyone, from preschoolers on balance bikes to teenagers and adults. It will have an asphalt surface, providing a smooth, durable, and low-maintenance facility that can be enjoyed all year round.

More than just a track, a pump track is a social space for fun, staying active, and building new skills together.

The initiative is being led by Bike Oxford; a group of local bike enthusiasts formed in 2024 in response to community demand for a dedicated bike play area. Bike Oxford will fundraise for the full cost of the track and gift the asset to Council.

Council would be responsible for the maintenance of the track on an ongoing basis.

The proposed location of the track is adjacent to the skate park, basketball court, and playground at Pearson Park. Final placement will depend on design and space requirements.

We’re inviting residents, park users, and community groups to share their thoughts on:

  • The concept of a pump track in Oxford
  • The proposed location
  • Any concerns or suggestions
  • How the pump track can best support play, inclusivity, and community use
