We’ve Got an Election on Our Hands

The race is on Waimakariri. Nominations for this year’s local elections officially closed at midday today – and we had a flurry of last-minute entries.

Sixty two locals have put their hands up to stand for Council and our Community Boards.

We’ve even got two people running for Mayor.

Waimakariri Deputy Electoral Officer, Sarah Nichols, says it’s fantastic to see such a wide range of dedicated locals keen to make a difference:

“We’re lucky to have so many passionate people standing up for our community. Now it’s over to our voters to get to know them and make their voice count.”

Now that the list of candidates is live, we encourage you to learn more about who’s standing and what matters to them.
