Changes to Earthquake Prone building legislation proposed

The Building (Earthquake-prone Buildings) Amendment Act 2016 came into effect on 1 July 2017 and outlines the regulatory requirements for earthquake-prone buildings.

Recent Legislative changes that are before Parliament are changing the earthquake prone designations. These proposed changes can be found here:

The proposed timeline for confirmation of the new legislation is mid 2026.
