Road to be closed:

  • South Eyre Road, between Wrights Road and Domain Road

Period of closure:

  • 7am 1 February to 6pm 1 March 2021
  • Detours will be in place

Mount Thomas Road, Oxford - 18 Jan to 1 Mar

Part of Mount Thomas Road will be closed from 7am 18 January to 6pm 1 March to allow for pavement reconstruction.

Road to be closed:

  • Mount Thomas Road, from Oxford Road to Mairaki Road

Period of closure:

  • 7am Monday 18 January to 6pm Monday 1 March 2021
  • Detours will be in place

King Street and George Street, Rangiora - 1 Mar to 28 May

Part of George Street, Rangiora, will be closed from 7am 1 March to 6pm 28 May to allow for sewer relay across the intersection at King Street.

Road to be closed:

  • George Street closed at the intersection with King Street (from no. 31 to 33)
  • Reduced lane size on King Street at intersection with possibility of traffic lights as contingency

Period of closure:

  • 7am 1 March to 6pm 28 May

Extreme caution is also advised for Bush Road, Browns Road, Gary River Road, Okuku Pass Road, Taffes Glen, Carboys Road, Henrys Ford Road.

Note: Not all of the fords above have signs installed to advise of closure. If the ford has no signs you should treat with extreme caution and use another route.

Closure are made in accordance with Section 11(a) of the Tenth Schedule of the Local Government Act 1974 and will apply to all vehicular traffic with the exception of the Fire Service, Ambulance, Police, Council vehicles and other vehicles authorised by the Council.

Information Notice - Coldstream Road Improvements, East Belt and Coldstream Road

A shared path, kerb and channel will be installed along Coldstream Road for walking and cycling access to Stadium Waimakariri with works beginning on Monday 19 Oct 2020. This is expected to be completed by mid-March 2021. Traffic may be reduced to one lane with detours on East Belt and Coldstream Road at times. Further updates regarding traffic changes will be provided.

Information Notice - Tram Road Improvements

With many new people moving to the Waimakariri District, there has been a large increase in traffic using Tram Road. A long-term plan is being developed to make safety improvements from the SH1 overpass up to Oxford Road. The first project will see intersection improvements made at the intersection on North Eyre Road.

Information Notice Ivory Street Upgrade Final Stages

Contractors will start work on Ivory Street, between Alfred Street and Queen Street during the week of Monday 17 August. Crews will continue working on the west side of Ivory Street, moving north from Queen Street, before moving to the east side and working south towards Countdown.

Information Notice - Kaiapoi Watermain Renewals

The Council are working on installing watermains along Williams Street and Hills Street, as the pipes are old and need to be replaced. From Monday 6 July contractors will move to stage two of works, between Fuller Street and the Ohoka Road roundabout.

Information Notice - Flaxton Road Improvements

The Council have confirmed a design for the improvement work on Flaxton Road, between Lineside Road and Kingsford Smith Drive. The design aims to improve pedestrian and cyclist facilities, as well as the general road layout. Work is due to start in Spring 2020 and will be completed in Spring 2021.
