Construction is about to start on this project.
The existing wastewater main through Matawai Park in Rangiora is damaged and poses a growing risk to our community and environment. To address this, a new wastewater main will be installed from Charles Street down Percival Street to the southern end of Matawai Park.
The work will include
The installation of a new wastewater main along the centre line of Percival Street from the southern end of Matawai Park to Charles Street, including sections of new main within William Street and Charles Street to connect to the existing network.
Timing of work
Alterations to the Percival/Southbrook intersection are scheduled to be undertaken overnight on Sunday 8 March 2026.
The main physical wastewater installation works are scheduled to begin on 9 March 2026 (subject to weather and other unforeseen circumstances) and are expected to be completed by the end of June 2026.
How the work may affect you
There will be no on-street parking available on Percival Street between South Belt and Johns Road.
Residents on Percival Street will be able to access their properties with the southbound lane, but there may be minor delays at times.
