High Shoulder Works

As part of the Council's Road and Drainage Maintenance Contract, CORDE will be carrying out high shoulder removal along several stretches of road across the district in the coming months.

The 'High shoulder' is the soil and grass build up on the edge of the road, which stops the water getting off the road and into the swale.

This work involves removing the soil and grass build-up adjacent to the road, to allow water to drain from the road surface. Water sitting on the road can cause pavement deterioration so it's important to remove the build up.

Mown frontages will be treated in the same manner as un-mown ones, but the methodology used generally leaves a neat and tidy edge, which will allow the grass berms to regenerate.

There may be some dust and noise created during the works. This is normal during this type of work, and we will endeavor to keep any inconvenience to a minimum. We thank you in advance for your understanding.
