The footpath and pedestrian crossings in the Ashley Street Carpark are being improved.
Upgrade works are planned to improve the safety of carpark users in the Council owned area of the Ashley Street Carpark by improving pedestrian areas and making crossings easier to use.
The work will include
Widening the concrete footpath next to New World including removal of most of the current wheel stops.
Construct raised pedestrian areas between the parking spaces through the carpark.
Repaint the pedestrian crossing areas to make them wider and more visible.
Timing of work
The works are planned to take three weeks, with work planned to start 23 February.
How the work may affect you
The work will be done in stages so only certain sections of the carpark will be fenced off at a time allowing the rest of the carpark to be used as normal.
Traffic impacts
Each work area will be kept as compact as possible to allow normal carpark traffic to continue around the site fencing. Please take care while driving near any of the work areas as pedestrians will be required to walk through the carpark area while works are being carried out on the footpaths.
General impacts
Essential services
There will be no planned disruption to your water, wastewater, telephone or power services.
Hours
All work will be undertaken between Monday to Friday, 7am and 6pm.
Weather
In the event of bad weather or for unforeseen circumstances, the work may be delayed.
