We are making improvements to the Cones Road drain.
In 2025, Council contractors reshaped the Cones Road drain to improve its capacity during larger rain events and installed two new box culverts. During heavy rainfall in April and May 2025, the drain performed well by conveying a significant volume of stormwater and preventing downstream flooding. However, increased flows and debris from upstream caused some localised damage.
The work will include
The proposed works will repair scour and establish vegetation along the banks to reduce the likelihood of similar damage occurring in future events.
Timing of work
This work will begin 19 January and is expected to take two to three weeks to complete.
Traffic impacts
Two traffic lanes will remain open for the majority of the works. However, there will be times when stop/go traffic management will need to be implemented.

Essential services
There will be no planned disruption to your water, wastewater, telephone or power services.
Hours
All work will be undertaken Monday to Saturday, between 6am and 6pm.
Weather
In the event of bad weather or for unforeseen circumstances, the work may be delayed.
