Pavement Rehabilitation - South Eyre Road, Clarkville

As part of the Waimakariri District Council Maintenance Contract, CORDE will be carrying out pavement rehabilitation on South Eyre Road, Clarkville.

The Waimakariri District Council carries out granular overlays to extend the life of a road, improve safety, and provide a smoother, more reliable surface for road users. This treatment is a cost-effective way to address pavement wear, improve performance, and minimise future maintenance needs.

The work will include

This work involves placing a new layer of high-quality gravel over the existing road surface, followed by grading and compaction to restore the road’s shape and strength. The process also includes improving drainage, repairing soft spots where necessary, and chip sealing the road when finished.

Timing of work

Work will commence on 6 January 2026 when traffic volumes are at their lowest and is expected to take six to seven weeks to complete.

How the work may affect you

South Eyre Road between 88–228 will be closed to undertake this work during the hours of 6am–6pm, residents with properties within this active worksite will still be able to access their properties while the work is underway. However, some delays may occur. To minimise any disruption, residents are encouraged to discuss their access needs with the onsite staff, who will assist in getting you through safely and as efficiently as possible.

Traffic impacts

Residents on Mabers Road, Elders Road, Lords Road, and Burgesses Road will still be able to reach their properties using the surrounding road network and are asked to use alternate routes so as to not travel through the active worksite.

A detour via Heywards Road will be in place between Tram Road and 283 South Eyre Road. This helps keep heavy vehicles off local roads and ensures the area stays safe for residents.

General impacts

Essential services

There will be no planned disruption to your water, wastewater, telephone or power services.

Notice of changes in traffic management

We will do our best to give you enough notice to adjust to any changes in traffic management, please keep an eye out for more updates.

Residents within the road closure must:

  • Identify themselves to our staff on site
  • Limit your speed to 30km/hour
  • Note that this is an active worksite, containing heavy construction machinery and a varying road surface and drive accordingly.

Hours

Most of the work will take place between 6am–6pm, Monday to Friday. There may be a small team on site during weekends to carry out any surface maintenance that’s needed, but this will be kept to a minimum to reduce disruption.

Weather

In the event of bad weather or for unforeseen circumstances, the work may be delayed.

Safety

Please warn your children of the dangers posed by road works. Ensure that they stay well back from the work site and they follow the directions of the workers.

Noise and dirt

Road work is a noisy, dirty business — but please bear with us. We will be doing all we can to minimise the impact on your home/business. Your cooperation and patience will help us get the job done as quickly as possible. All work will be carried out between the stated hours and over week days only to help minimise the impact on the community.

Easy does it

Bitumen, concrete and other road repair materials require a bit of care after they are applied. Please treat all new surfaces with extra care following the completion of this project.

Thank you for your patience while we complete this work. If you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact us.
