With the support of Waimakariri District Council, Te Kura Tuatahi O Pakiaka Woodend School are creating a mural at Woodend Recreation Reserve.
Following the upgrade of the Woodend Town Centre toilet block on School Road, the school’s original mural was removed. Council staff have collaborated with the school to develop a mural project at the Woodend Recreational Reserve/Owen Stalker Park toilet block. The concept has been approved by the Waimakariri Public Arts Trust and by the Woodend Sefton Community Board.
The proposed works will include
Preparing (sanding) and painting the building.
Timing of work
Work is planned to start Friday 13 March.
The artwork will be completed over the course of several weeks, with the aim of completion in August 2026. This is weather dependant, so may extend this timeframe.
How the work may affect you
The back and side exterior walls of the toilet block will be used for the mural. Access to the toilet block will be maintained.
General impacts
Weather
In the event of bad weather or for unforeseen circumstances, the work may be delayed.
Wet paint
There will be wet paint at times, please take care when you are near the location.
