Alcohol Control Bylaw comes into effect from 10 July

Council adopted the Alcohol Control Bylaw 2025 on 1 July 2025, and it will go into effect on 10 July 2025 at 10.00 am.

The bylaw, controls the consumption, bringing into, or possession of alcohol in public places.

An alcohol control bylaw is generally considered to be an effective regulatory tool to help the Council and Police promote and maintain public health and safety.

The bylaw controls for temporary special events in public places. It enables Council to establish alcohol ban areas in future by resolution where criteria is met.
