Water Well Drilling — Mandeville 1379 Tram Road, Swannanoa

Drilling of a new drinking water well for the Mandeville Drinking-Water Supply.

This project is the first stage of developing a new drinking water well to provide full redundancy for the Mandeville Drinking-Water Supply.

The work will include
Stage 1 involves:

  • Drilling and testing of one new potable water supply well
  • Installing security fencing around the new well area
  • Construction of a new entrance way for both the existing and new water sites.

Stage 2 involves:

  • Construction of the new well head, including pipework to connect to the existing water main.
    Timing of work
  • Stage 1 (Drilling) is scheduled to commence in January 2025 and be completed in May 2025.
  • Stage 2 (Well Head Construction) is scheduled for August–December 2026.

These dates may change, and we will be in touch with you closer to the time before we go ahead with these works.

How the work may affect you
The Council will take all practicable steps to minimise construction noise and vibration, within the limits of what is possible with drilling and the site conditions/constraints. It should be noted drilling with a Cable Percussive Rig involves the continual strike of the bar hammers against the drive head of the casing.

Though this source of noise cannot be completely eliminated, it is limited in duration (i.e. only during periods of casing advance) and partially suppressed by noise barriers. All major work will be restricted to normal work hours.

Traffic impacts
During construction of the entranceways the roadside berm in front of the water sites will be fenced off. No further
impact on traffic is expected at this point in time.

General impacts
Hours
All work will be undertaken between 7.30am to 6pm, Monday to Saturday.
Weather
In the event of bad weather or for unforeseen circumstances, the work may be delayed.
Thank you for your patience while we complete this work. If you have any questions please do not hesitate to
