We're installing new water supply mains on the northern side of Rangiora in Kingsbury Avenue, Lover's Lane, Ashley Street, Edward Street and Wales Street.

A new water supply main will be installed to service development to the north and east of Rangiora. The new water supply mains will be installed in:

  • Kingsbury Avenue from White Street to King Street
  • The reserve area from the Ayers Street Water Treatment Plant to Kingsbury Avenue (adjacent to Nos. 241 - 247 Kingsbury Avenue)
  • Lover’s Lane Accessway from King Street to Ashley Street across Good Street
  • Ashley Street between No. 77 and  No. 85
  • Wales Street Between Ashley Street and East Belt
  • Edward Street between No. 47 and No. 54

The work will include

Installing approximately 1,460m of water supply main by either open excavation or directional drilling in the roads, reserves, and accessways listed above.

Timing of work

July to December 2025

How the work may affect you

There will be impacts in terms of noise and access along the street which are typical of this type of construction work. While the construction timeframe allowed is six months, works will progress along the street so they will not be in the same area the whole time.

We're proposing to do the works around Rangiora High School as much as possible during school holidays.

Traffic impacts

Traffic management will be in place along all streets where there are construction works.

This may cause minor delays accessing your property and loss of parking around the works and roading detours as required. Parts of the street may be temporarily closed or reduced to one lane while construction works are being undertaken in the area. The Lover's Lane Footpath Accessway will be closed while construction works are taking place in the accessway.

General impacts

Kerbside collections
Your kerbside collections will remain unchanged. Please ensure your bag or bins are in their usual spot on collection day.

Essential services
There will be no planned disruption to your wastewater, telephone or power services. There should not be any impact to your water supply, but if it does need to be shut down for short periods, we will let you know.

Notice of changes in traffic management
We will do our best to give you enough notice to adjust to any changes in traffic management, please keep an eye out for more updates.

There may be some temporary loss of some parking and/or footpaths on one side of the road closed. We will inform the affected parties before the start of construction works and once a detailed design has been confirmed. We will work to minimise these impacts as much as possible.

Hours
All work will be undertaken between 7am and 6pm.

Weather
In the event of bad weather of for unforeseen circumstances, the work may be delayed.

Safety
Please warn your children of the dangers posed by road works. Ensure that they stay well back from the work site and they follow the directions of the workers.

Noise and dirt
Road work is noisy, dirty business – but please bear with us. We will be doing all we can to minimise the impact on your home/business. Your cooperation and patience will help us get the job done as quickly as possible. All work will be carried out between the stated hours only to help minimise the impact on the community.

Easy does it
Bitumen, concrete and other road repair materials require a bit of care after they are applied. Please treat all new surfaces with extra care following the completion of this project.

Thank you for your patience while we complete this work. If you have any questions please don't hesitate to contact us.
