The construction of the new water main will begin soon.
The existing water mains along Ashley Street are due for renewal as part of the Rangiora water main renewals programme.
The work will include
- Installation of a new water main from 141 Ashley Street to 1717 Ashley Street in the western berm and footpath, where required
- Installation of a new water main across Ashley Street from 1717 Ashley Street to the A&P show grounds
- New lateral connection will be installed to the service box at the property boundary, which will also be upgraded as required.
Timing of work
- Work will begin on 27 January 2025. Construction is expected to take place until March 2025.
How the work may affect you
Property access may be restricted at times while the installation crosses driveways. The contractor will communicate these restrictions as required throughout the construction process.
Water services may temporarily be suspended while connecting the new water main into the existing network.
Traffic Impacts
The northbound shoulder of Ashley Street will be closed to pedestrians and parking from 141 to 171 Ashley Street.

Notice of change in traffic management
We will do our best to give you enough notice to adjust to any changes in traffic management, please keep an eye out for more updates.
Hours
7am to 6pm, Monday to Saturday, although some night works may be required.
Weather
In the event of bad weather or for unforeseen circumstances, the work may be delayed.
Safety
Please warn your children of the dangers posed by road works. Ensure that they stay well back from the work site and they follow the directions of the workers.
