Planned Shutdown of Waikuku Water Supply

UPDATE: 24 April
The water shutdown is taking longer than expected and properties in Waikuku may find they currently have low/no water pressure.
We're working to fix this problem and expect that it might be a couple of hours. Thanks for your patience!

23 April

Council is carrying out planned maintenance on the Waikuku water scheme. The work will require shutting off the water supply for up to three hours starting 9am until 12pm on Tuesday 23 April 2024.

We’re letting you know that as part of Critical Maintenance Works to the public water network, we need to temporarily turn off the water supply to your street.

Water will be turned off on Tuesday 23rd April 2024 from 9.00am to 12.00pm

Affected streets are:

- Kings Avenue
- Waikuku Beach Road
- Allin Drive
- Queens Avenue
- Collins Drive
- Ensors Place
- Northside Drive

Residents are advised to ensure they have stored water to cover the duration of the shutdown.

Fire sprinklers

If you are the owner of a building with a fire sprinkler, we recommend you notify your insurance company about the water shut down. If you are a tenant please let your landlord know about the planned work.

What you need to do

The water supply may be restored at any time. Please take care not to leave taps turned on. Once the water supply is restored, we recommend you to run the cold tap in the kitchen, bathroom, and laundry for around 30 seconds each, or until there is an even flow. (This is to remove any air that may have entered the pipework).

When the Council turns the water back on you may also see the Council open the nearest fire hydrant to flush out the pipes in the street.

Businesses

If you run a business or if you need a constant supply of water, you must provide your own water storage appropriate to the business or process you need to undertake over this period.

Thank you for your patience while we complete this essential work.
