Pedestrian Crossing Improvements Kaiapoi North School, Williams Street

The Waimakariri District Council is improving safety at the Kaiapoi North School pedestrian crossing.

In January 2025, Council completed most of the Kaiapoi North School pedestrian crossing safety improvement works with Pidgeon Contracting Ltd. This notice is to provide you with an update regarding this project.

The Work Will Include

Installation of ‘speed cushion pads’ to reduce vehicle speeds at the crossing will be completed. Unfortunately, the contractor was not able to complete this installation along with the main works back in January 2025. This was due to the speed cushions having to be procured from overseas, with a lead-in time and freight time not matching with the project timeline.

Timing of Work

Pidgeon Contracting Ltd are planning to complete the installation on 14 April 2025. In case of bad weather, the contractor has a backup date of 15 April 2025.
