We will be replacing the kerb and channel on the eastern side of Edward Street.
The works area is between Wales Street and the end of the deep-dish channel opposite 15 Edward Street.
Scope of Work
- Replacing the older “dish” style kerb and channel with newer kerb and channel.
- Removing the crossing blocks at each entrance way to improve drainage.
Timing of Work
EDR Contracting Ltd will be starting work from the week starting 14 April 2025. Vehicle access to properties within the construction area will be restricted. Access to properties will be restored by the end of the day.
How the Work May Affect You
- Carriageway Width: The proposed design will reduce the carriageway width to 12.5m to match the northern end of Edward Street. This change is to provide additional space within the berm for street trees and encourage reduced vehicle speeds along Edward Street. This change will not adversely impact heavy vehicles accessing businesses on Edward Street.
- Commercial Beams: Installing “commercial” beams at all commercial vehicle entrances beneath the kerb. Existing vehicle entrances will be tied-in and surfacing reinstated “like for like”.
Traffic Impacts
- Traffic management will be installed with a one-way system in place.
- The footpath will be closed, and all pedestrians will be directed to the footpath on the western side of the road.
- On-street parking will not be available on both sides of the road while the works are progressing at each stage. Please follow the directions of staff on site.
General Impacts
- Kerbside Collections: Your kerbside collections will remain unchanged. Please ensure your bag or bins are in their usual spot on collection day.
- Essential Services: There will be no planned disruption to your water, wastewater, telephone, or power services.
- Notice of Changes in Traffic Management: We will do our best to give you enough notice to adjust to any changes in traffic management. Please keep an eye out for more updates.
- Weather: In the event of bad weather or unforeseen circumstances, the work may be delayed.
