Drainage upgrade - Lineside Road, Rangiora

In 2020, stormwater infrastructure was installed on Lineside Road from the Railway Road intersection to Morrison Cars. This project involves the second half of the Lineside Road stormwater improvements.

The purpose of this infrastructure is to reduce flooding at Lineside Road and Railway Road.

In addition to the stormwater infrastructure, a new footpath will be installed along the eastern side of Lineside Road to provide a safer route for pedestrians and cyclists.

The work will include

  • Installation of reinforced concrete pipe from the Railway Road–Lineside Road intersection up to the Flaxton Road–Lineside Road intersection.
  • Construction of a 104m concrete footpath along Lineside Road.

Timing of work
The works are expected to start the week beginning Monday 22 April 2024 and will last five to six weeks.

How the work may affect you

Traffic management impacts will be communicated in advance as we progress.

Traffic impacts
Two-way traffic will be maintained during the work. To allow for this, the road shoulder will be closed. Please take extreme care as cyclists will be merging with traffic and traffic lanes will be moved while construction is underway. Please follow on-site traffic signage.

Access to businesses will be maintained.

The bus stop at 660 Lineside Road and outside McDonald's will be moved temporarily. For buses into Christchurch please use the previous stop outside 42 Southbrook Road, for north-bound buses please use the stop at 642 Lineside Road.

General impacts
Although we will try to minimise disruption, there will be some noise due to construction and the presence of heavy vehicles.

Thank you for your patience while we complete this work.
