In accordance with section 55(2A) of the Resource Management Act 1991 (RMA), public notice is hereby given of the following decision, made by the Waimakariri District Council at its meeting on 1 October 2024.
Objective 13.1.2 in the operative Waimakariri District Plan has been amended to incorporate the time frames and figures in the Greater Christchurch March 2023 Housing Development Capacity Assessment. This sets minimum targets for sufficient, feasible development capacity for housing (within the Greater Christchurch area of the Waimakariri District).
The National Policy Statement on Urban Development 2020 requires that local authorities incorporate housing bottom lines into RMA planning documents, without using the process set out in Schedule 1 of the RMA.
The operative Waimakariri District Plan shall be deemed to have been amended in accordance with
this decision from 22 November 2024.
