During routine maintenance of the decking timber on the Mandeville Footbridge, deterioration has been identified in the deck bearer beams which has raised a  safety concern. This deterioration poses a potential risk to the structural integrity of the bridge and users.

As a precautionary measure, the bridge will be closed to pedestrian access immediately until our structural engineers have completed a thorough assessment and determined the necessary requirements/repairs.
