We will be replacing the kerb and channel on the east side of Ashgrove Street, between Seddon Street to Kingsbury Avenue.
This work is part of the Waimakariri District Council’s annual kerb and channel renewal programme where ageing and deteriorating kerb and channel is replaced.
The work will include
Replacing the older “dish” style kerb and channel with newer kerb and channel and removing the crossing blocks at each entrance way to improve drainage.
The existing footpath will remain as is, and is not currently programmed for replacement at this time.
Installation of under-channel pipe and soakage trenches.
Timing of work
EDR Contracting Ltd will be starting work from Monday 10 February 2025. Work is expected to take approximately four weeks and will be carried out Monday to Saturday between 7am and 6pm. Vehicle access to properties within the construction area will be restricted. Access to properties and businesses will be restored by the end of the day.
How the work may affect you
The proposed design will seek to reduce the carriageway width to approximately 12.5m. This change is to provide additional space within the berm for street trees, as well as encourage reduced vehicle speeds along Ashgrove Street.
Traffic impacts
Traffic management will be in place. The footpath will be closed, and all pedestrians shall be directed to the footpath on the other side of the road. On-street parking will not be available during construction. Please follow the directions of staff on site.
General impacts
Kerbside collections
Your kerbside collections will remain unchanged. Please ensure your bag or bins are in their usual spot on collection day.
Essential services
There will be no planned disruption to your water, wastewater, telephone or power services.
Notice of change in traffic management
We will do our best to give you enough notice to adjust to any changes in traffic management, please keep an eye out for more updates.
Weather
In the event of bad weather or for unforeseen circumstances, the work maybe delayed.
Safety
Please warn your children of the dangers posed by road works. Ensure that they stay well back from the work site and they follow the directions of the workers.
