Council compliance officers are now wearing body-mounted cameras as a safety measure.
This is due to the significant rise in abusive behaviour towards compliance officers.
Implementing the use of these cameras is to ensure officer safety and mitigate potential health and safety risks by making members of the public aware that physical aggression and threatening behaviour may be recorded.
The camera also removes the 'He said, she said' false accusations for both the officer and the public.
Officers may begin recording for evidential purposes and the recordings forwarded to the police when appropriate.
