Over 780 Waimakariri locals made submissions to Council’s Draft Annual Plan.
Consultation opened on 14 March and closed on 21 April and staff are now summarising submission points for the Council to consider during hearings and deliberations in May. Residents were asked to provide feedback on:
- Local Water Done Well
- Transport programme
- Outside Factors Driving Cost Increases
- Rating policy - rates remission and discount for early payment
- Development Contributions policy
An initial summary has shown approximately 96 percent of residents supported Council’s preferred option for Local Water Done Well / Three Waters Reform which is to establish a stand-alone business unit of Council to manage the services.
There were over 120 submissions made on the other topics.
Residents will be able to read their feedback once an agenda is available for the hearings which is expected in early May.
This Draft Annual Plan covers the second financial year of the Long Term Plan, from 1 July 2025 to 30 June 2026.
