The Waimakariri District Council is one of the largest employers in the Waimakariri District and has become an employer of choice.
Kaiapoi River was the centre of a lot of activity recently, when eleven pontoon sections were transported by truck to the river edge.
Each section was craned on to the river and then floated upstream to waiting piles. Once in place, they were attached to adjacent sections; forming a single 115 metre long pontoon.
This pontoon will be split into three mooring areas; one for the River Queen, another section for casual and short term leases, and finally an area for permanent berths.
The pontoon will be open for use in October.
