Car Park and Footpath Renewals: Darnley Square & Baker Park, Kaiapoi

This work is a part of the annual renewal programme for the roads, car parks and footpaths located within our parks and reserves.

Darnley Square

Council is planning to renew and reseal the Darnley Square North Carpark (in front of the Kaiapoi Toy Library).

The work will include

  • Resealing of car park
  • Re-instate all parking line markings inside the carpark as per the code of practice
  • Installation of new signage.

Timing of work
The contract has been awarded to Stewart Civil Ltd. Physical works are planned to begin on week starting 9 December 2024 and are expected to be completed before the Christmas holiday period.

How the work may affect you
During construction, the car park is expected to be closed to public access, however pedestrian access to the Tennis Club, Toy Library and Swim Clubs shall be provided and maintained at all times.

Traffic impacts
All works are planned inside the car park and hence there will be very little disruption on the roads and footpath. Please follow the instructions of the staffs on site while using the footpath or on-street car parks closer to the work zone.

Baker Park

Council is planning to renew and upgrade the footpath inside Baker Park, Kaiapoi.

The work will include

  • Remove existing cracked concrete footpath
  • Construction of new 1.8m wide footpath
  • Re-instate 10m marks on footpath.

Timing of work
The contract has been awarded to Stewart Civil Ltd. Physical works are planned to begin on week starting 2 December 2024 and are expected to be completed before the Christmas holiday period.

How the work may affect you
During construction, the footpath work area will be fenced off to provide safety to both the contractors and public. However, temporary footpath access will be provided on the berm.

Traffic impacts
As the works are planned inside the park, there will not be any disruption on the roads.
