Long Term Plan

Background

The Local Government Act 2002 introduced the requirement that councils must have a Long Term Plan which is a comprehensive statement of the Council's intentions for the next 10 years.

What is a Long Term Plan?

A Long Term Plan:

  • describes Community Outcomes for the district
  • describes the activities of the Council
  • sets out a long term focus for the decisions and activities of the Council
  • provides for integrated decision-making and coordination of Council resources
  • provides a basis for accountability to the community.

The document

The Long Term Plan 2015-2025  was adopted by Council on 16 June 2015. It is available in eBook or PDF format. The 30 Year Infrastructure Strategy 2015-2045 is included as an appendix to the Long Term Plan 2015-2025. Printed copies of the Long Term Plan 2015-2025 are available at Council service centres and libraries.
