Pavement Repairs - Palmer Street, Rangiora

In July 2024, kerb and channel renewal works were completed on Palmer Street, along with a water main upgrade and installation of a new 450mm stormwater main. Since then, some areas where the new works tie into the existing road have developed defects.

The contractor responsible will be returning to site to undertake repairs. These works are intended to restore the pavement to the required standard and ensure long-term performance.

While they are there, they will undertake some minor works in preparation for a reseal of the chip seal which is scheduled for early next year.

The work will include
  • Excavating and repairing the pavement on the south side of Palmer Street from Nos. 7 – 17, as well as an isolated excavation and repair outside No. 6.
  • Laying a small amount of asphalt on any areas where the chip seal is low against the kerb and channel and at the Douglas Street intersection in preparation for the reseal.
Timing of work
  • Work is expected to start on 9 October 2025.
  • The repairs will take between one to two weeks to complete.
  • The maintenance contractor will then reseal the entire road in early 2026. This will provide a final waterproofing surface to the pavement.
