The Waimakariri District Council is one of the largest employers in the Waimakariri District and has become an employer of choice.
BMX riders will need to take a short break from using the Kaiapoi BMX track from Thursday 3 December, as it's time for its first significant maintenance since opening in October last year.
“With the popularity of the track, it's crucial to keep it in tip-top condition to keep it safe and so that it handles well. We appreciate people staying off it for a few days while we finish the work”, says Grant MacLeod, Council’s Green Space Manager.
The maintenance work will take around three days to finish and is being undertaken by track designer and Olympian Trent Jones.
The track is surfaced with lime chip and dust, and coated with a polymer glue for stabilisation. The work is budgeted for as part of ongoing maintenance of the track.
