Night Work for SH1 Through Woodend

Published: 27-Nov-2019

Detours for northbound traffic travelling on SH1 through Woodend will be in place between 8pm and 6am from Sunday 1 December until Friday 6 December. This is to allow the New Zealand Transport Agency (NZTA) to repair and re-seal a section of road between Rangiora Woodend Road and Parsonage Road.

Being a busy road, contractors will be working through the night to avoid as much disruption to motorists as possible. Temporary traffic management will be in place during the work, with side road closures, reduced speed limits and detours. The information notice can be viewed here.Road workers working on an asphalt surface at night

Traffic impacts:

  • Southbound traffic will remain on SH1 Main North Road.
  • Northbound traffic will be diverted via Rangiora Woodend Road and Woodend Road.
  • Southbound traffic on Rangiora Woodend Road will be diverted via Woodend Road.
  • Traffic on the east side streets (Parsonage, Eders, Gladstone, Petries and those parallel to SH1) will be detoured to the nearest available exit. This will likely change throughout the night as the work progresses. Please follow on-site signage.
  • Motorists on Woodend Beach Road will be detoured at Sandhill Road to reach SH1 where they can turn left or right. Left turning traffic will be available from the end of Woodend Beach Road as a backup for those who miss the detour.
  • Residents accessing SH1 from a side street will need to use an alternative route.

Contractors advise that the work may be delayed due to weather. NZTA can be contacted on 0800 44 44 49 or visit their website for more information and updates.
