The hard work of the Waimakariri Aquatic Facilities team has been acknowledged after claiming two more top awards for the trophy cabinet.
The WaiSwim learn to swim programme has once again been awarded the Gold standard in Swimming New Zealand’s Quality Swim School programme at all three aquatic facilities: Kaiapoi, Rangiora and Oxford.
It’s the organisations highest level of achievement and only given to programmes that demonstrate a high standard of swimming tuition, use validated safe methods and commit to ongoing professional development for its swim coaches and teachers.
Aquatic Facilities Manager, Matt Greenwood, says he’s delighted that they’ve taken out top honours for the third year running,
“WaiSwim has a fantastic reputation in our community, it’s more popular than ever and this award is a real credit to our staff who have built and maintained the programme at such a high standard.”
All three facilities also achieved Poolsafe standard following their annual audit. Poolsafe is an independent assessment of public pools that aims to improve standards and limit serious harm to communities. Each part of the operation is carefully examined, including staff qualifications, staff training, water quality and health and safety.
“We’re following best practice in all areas of our operation, public safety is always front of mind and this accreditation shows the community that our facilities are running extremely well,” says Matt Greenwood.
