Rain Set to Ease Later Today

Published: 09-Nov-2018

While alpine rivers have risen sharply, with the Waimakariri peaking at 1900 cumecs, the Waimakariri District is largely unaffected by the latest deluge.

The headwaters are easing and alpine rain has ceased. Other than some roadside surface flooding, the Waimakariri District is faring well. Rain is forecast to ease this afternoon leading into a fine day tomorrow.

There are no concerns about the Waimakariri Bridge. All fords west of Downs Road remain closed and will be checked again this afternoon.

You can check the status of Canterbury Rivers on the ECan website.

Drivers are urged to take care on the roads, and to be alert for any surface flooding.

The latest status of roads and fords in the District can be found here.
