Downer crews, on behalf of NZTA, will be removing some dead and dangerous trees in a shelterbelt of trees alongside the Christchurch Northern Motorway between Tram Road and Ohoka Road just west of Cumberland Place, Kaiapoi (see map).
Crews will start work on Sunday night and the work will continue for two nights from 7pm to 5am.
The work will be noisy when we use chainsaws and a chipper to cut down the trees and remove them from site. We apologise for the disruption.
The public walkway alongside the trees is currently closed for safety reasons. It will remain closed while the work is taking place. Once the trees have been removed the public walkway will be opened again.
Crews will close one lane on the Northern Motorway (southbound) as we do the work. We don’t expect that a lane closure will generate any congestion given the work is happening at night.
