Have you El Tee Peed?

The consultation period for the Draft Long Term Plan is in full swing … and we want to hear from you! With proposals for the $28 million Multi Use Sports Facility and choice around kerbside collection of waste, along with the expansion of community facilities and District-wide water management, headlining the issues to be discussed, there’s plenty in there than affects all of you.

A noted theme from the large number of public drop-in sessions across the District that our Councillors have attended to date has been the view that ‘I will look at it later’.

As one Councillor put it, “later” is no good.

We need to know your viewpoint NOW, as the consultation closes on Monday April 9 and the ‘book’ will be closed at that point.

The Council then meets at the end of May to consider all submissions before finalising the Ten Year Plan in June.

“We need to prepare for growth [of the District] and ensure that it is well planned, integrated and financially sustainable for current and future generations… we’d like your thoughts on what we are proposing,” Mayor David Ayers says.

It is pretty simple, another Councillor said recently at one of the engagements.

Here’s your chance to have your say. If you don’t take it, don’t come back complaining later about a decision that you didn’t like but didn’t offer us your views on.

Consultation documents for the Draft Long Term Plan are available at all Council Service Centres and libraries, and can be downloaded online.

Submissions can be made via the pull out form in the documents themselves, by calling into a service centre to collect a form, or by filling out an online submission on our website.

So c’mon Waimakariri, make sure you El Tee Pee!
