Southbrook Road Night Work Ahead

A new sewer main will be installed across Southbrook Road, from Denchs Road to Pearson Lane during the week of Monday 26 February. This work will close a lane on Southbrook Road for two nights, and is part of a major sewer upgrade in central and south Rangiora to improve the wastewater network.

Digger excavating trenchThe lane reduction will allow contractors to install the new pipework across the road. On a road carrying around 24,000 vehicles a day, the decision was made to do the work during the night to reduce impacts to road users.

Motorists are advised to look out for stop/go traffic management though the area during that week, between the hours of 10pm and 6am. Two-way traffic will be restored after 6am, and work will continue on the road shoulder.

Contractors have previously been working from the wastewater treatment plant, along Railway Road and on Denchs Road. Once the new pipes have been laid across Southbrook Road, contractors will move into Pearson Lane for about four weeks.

The work is being carried out in three stages and is expected to continue through various areas of Rangiora until mid-2019.

The map below shows the location of the pipe renewals and proposed timeframes for installation.
