Ohoka Market a Hit for Domain Feedback

The Waimakariri District Council’s Community and Greenspace team were back out at Ohoka Domain at the popular Farmers Market on Friday morning. It wasn’t to buy veges, flowers or food. Staff are finding out what the community thinks about the latest concept plan to develop the Domain.

This is the latest stage of a comprehensive community engagement process. Residents were invited to come and view the plan and add their comments or views.  Local groups from Ohoka as well as the Ohoka Domain Committee have been involved in the process, and the latest concept plan is the result of everyone’s feedback.20171110_Ohoka Domain

Rod Buchanan from the Ohoka Domain Committee says, “Engagement with the Council has been good.  The community have had many opportunities to see the concept plan and share their views.  It’s also been really useful having Council staff on hand at events like this to answer questions.”

The next stage is to collect the feedback, which will inform any changes that need to be made to the plan.  It will be presented to the Oxford-Ohoka Community Board for support before it goes before Council for consideration of funding allocation from the 2018-2028 Long Term Plan.

If you didn’t get a chance to come down and see us at the market, there will be another opportunity to talk to us at the Ohoka Domain Hall on Monday 20 November at 5.30pm.  Or you can comment online here http://www.waimakariri.govt.nz/your-council/contact-us
