by-election is only for voters in the Rangiora-Ashley ward, where 17,391
people are eligible to vote. The
by-election is required following the death of the late Peter Allen. Former councillor Allen was one of four members of council
representing the Rangiora-Ashley ward. The
others are Cr Robbie Brine, Cr Dan Gordon and Cr Paul Williams.
papers for the by-election will be sent between 20 - 25 November, with voting
closing at noon on Tuesday 12 December. The
preliminary result is expected to be announced later that afternoon.
