Celebrating Waimakariri Volunteers

Today marks the start of National Volunteer Week. Each year New Zealand celebrates its volunteers to recognise the vital contribution they make in our society.

New Zealand has approximately 1.2 million volunteers who contribute in areas as diverse as social development, the economy and the environment.

‘Live, laugh, share – volunteer’ is the theme this year.

It helps to capture the heart-felt appreciation we feel when people come together to build stronger and more vibrant communities through volunteer service.

In recognitions of the occasion, council is taking this opportunity to showcase the wonderful work of volunteers within our district.

Whether it’s volunteering at a sports game, painting community artwork or providing a vital emergency service we, in the Waimakariri, count on these amazing people who give up their time in support of our community.

So thank you to each and every one of you for the time you give back to our community and the invaluable contribution you make each and every day.
