Rangiora Town Centre Upgrade Moving Along Nicely

Work to upgrade the eastern area of Rangiora’s High Street is making good progress.

New asphalt footpaths have been laid and ducting for power has been installed on the northern side of the street.Formwork for concrete planter box

Activity is now concentrated around the High Street/Victoria Street corner where the structure for new curved concrete planter boxes is being built outside Showcase Jeweller. The concrete is planned to be poured tomorrow.

The pedestrian crossing outside the Gables Arcade will be re-paved next week, with the work being carried out at night to minimise disruption. Keep an eye out for changed traffic layout - expected to take just one night, High Street will be closed between 8pm and 4am and detours will be in place.

New ducting has been installed on the south side of High Street, between the Gables Arcade and Ashley Street. Now that this has been done, the remaining asphalt in the area will be removed today and tomorrow morning, with the aim of resurfacing the footpath later Tuesday morning. This will be finished by 9am, avoiding the busier shopping periods.

Towards the middle of the week, the focus will move to Victoria Street where footpath work will begin.  Contractors and Council will be visiting businesses before the work starts to provide more details.
