Detours ahead for Williams Street Ohoka Road Roundabout

A new sewer pipe, which will serve about 40% of Kaiapoi residents, is being installed and will soon cross through the Williams Street/Ohoka Road roundabout.

The new pipe will increase capacity and provide a more resilient wastewater system to residents of Kaiapoi.Detour route map

The pipe is currently being installed along Ohoka Road heading east towards the roundabout. In order to get the pipe across the intersection, there will be no through traffic on Williams Street through the roundabout from Monday 1 May for approximately two days.

Traffic will be detoured as follows:

  • Northbound traffic on Williams Street will be detoured via Ohoka Road, Peraki Street and Carew Street
  • Southbound traffic on Williams Street will be detoured via Ohoka Road, Stone Street and Courtenay Drive
  • There will be no right hand turns at the roundabout
  • On-street parking will be temporarily affected within the work area
  • Please follow on-site signage.

This work is part of an ongoing project to install the new sewer main from the pump station in Parnham Lane, along Vickery Street, Ohoka Road, across Kiwi Rail land, along Charters Street and crossing reserve land to an existing pipe connection at the Kaiapoi River near Raven Quay.
