Welcome to the second year of Waimakariri District Council’s Long Term Plan (LTP) 2018-2028 work programme and budgets, the Annual Plan 2019/20.
In 2019/20 our main priority continues to be the upgrade and maintenance of core infrastructure for water supply, wastewater and stormwater, ensuring the network remains resilient, safe and cost effective. This work programme is reflected in an average district wide rate increase of 4.80 percent. This is comparative to the 4.3 percent increase signalled for 2019/20 within Long Term Plan (LTP).
There are a number of key projects that are progressing in 2019/20, including the completion of the earthquake infrastructure repairs advancing regeneration projects and the Kaiapoi riverbank enhancement, Constructing the $28m Multi-use Sports facility, due to open early 2021, introducing the kerbside collection service, implementing the recommendations from the Waimakariri Zone Committee to improve the Ditrict’s waterways and supporting indigenous flora and fauna.
