Below you'll find information about the District's water supply advisory groups. This includes meeting agendas and minutes.
The Cust Water Supply Advisory Group was re-established in early 2020 to help Council work through a key project with the community, as well as to provide a general interface between elected members, staff and residents on the scheme. The key project being worked through is the proposal to renew the existing headworks with new infrastructure at the back of the existing site. The key outcomes are to improve the storage available at the site (to reduce the risk of an outage), to make the infrastructure more secure (to reduce the risk of a contamination event), and to allow for future treatment should it be required. Council will consult with the community on this in early to mid 2020.

The Garrymere water supply scheme requires an upgrade in order to comply with the Drinking-water Standards for New Zealand. The Council consulted with residents on the scheme regarding a number of upgrade options in early 2018. Following this, Council opted to form a water supply advisory group so that staff could work alongside residents and elected members to ensure that a more collaborative approach was taken to identifying the best upgrade option. This page presents information from how the group has progressed from its initiation.

Historically there had been separate advisory groups for West Eyreton and Summerhill, but no group for Poyntzs Road. As a result of a proposal to join the Poyntzs Road scheme to the West Eyreton and Summerhill scheme, it was proposed to form a new combined advisory group to serve all 3 schemes. This group will help advise Council as they work through the proposal to join the schemes. The key driver for the proposed joining is to improve the water quality for Poyntzs Road scheme members.
